Question 6

What are the pros of being a chef?

The advantage of being a chef includes two things; which is the passion for food, and the variety of work environments. With a passion for food it gives the chef an opportunity for the individual to explore his or her passion for food and cooking. Many of the chefs get started cooking in his or her home and simply enjoy trying new foods and doing experiments in the kitchen. Chefs receive training in the different types of ingredients, culinary styles and cooking techniques. The chefs that runs his or her own restaurants have a great deal of creative freedom, including a say so in how the restaurant is looking. Also what type of food it serves and which specials are on the menu each night.
The variety of work environments is where chefs spend most of his or her time in kitchens.  The diversity of places that employ chefs allows the chefs to have a great deal of variety over his or her career. Chefs also work for caterers, cooking food in front of people for special events. As a chef he or she also prepares food at resorts,on cruise ships and in hotels. As a personal chef he or she can also work for private clients, that can include celebrities, sometimes the celebrities have his or her personal chef traveling along to prepare food around the world (Hartman).
In many of the restaurants chefs get fed. In the type of way that can be considered sitting down in eating like a family. Meals are usually prepared by the chefs, giving the individual a chance to take a break from the menu items of the night and create something that will be appreciated by some pf the individuals peers. Even though stress can be considered a negative, it can also be viewed as a positive to help the chef out. Many of the chefs thrive on the energy and adrenaline of working on the line. It can also help form strong relationships between coworkers. Was a chef can allow you to be in an environment that encourages this enthusiasm.  The individual could have the opportunity to work side-by-side with other talented and driven culinary professionals ("Chef and Culinary Career Information").
